| THURSDAY LEAGUE - RESTRICTOR PLATE LEAGUE | | | Runnning every Thursday NIGHT
NORA will run its 3rd season Restrictor Plate League. We will be running the new NCTS09 Truck Mod in fixed setup mode, Moderate damage 30% length, pit frequency at 2X, 60 degrees.
We will be using a scoring system identical to the Wednesday Night Fixed series that awards points only to the top 8 finishers. There will be no bonus points for leading a lap or the most laps - hopefully this will help to keep drivers from feeling that they have to block to lead every/most laps.
INTERESTED DRIVERS SHOULD UPDATE THEIR ACCOUNTS IN THE RACELM GARAGE. THERE IS NOW A BOX TO BE CHECKED TO JOIN THE RPL.
The Points system will be Formula 1 based, with the top 8 drivers each race earning points.
| Place | Points | | 1 | 10 | | 2 | 8 | | 3 | 6 | | 4 | 5 | | 5 | 4 | | 6 | 3 | | 7 | 2 | | 8 | 1 | The driver who earns the most points over the season wins the drivers' title. If the top two drivers finish tied on points, then the one with more victories in the season wins. Should they each have the same number of victories, then the one with the most second place finishes wins, etc.
There will be no lucky dog rule in this series. Racing back to the yellow will be allowed at all times. When less than 10 laps to go, all lap cars must drive thru pit road at every legal opportunity to allow lead lap cars to the front of the field.
If current NORA members are interested in racing, please get signed up using the NORA Car File manager and edit your membership to include this series. If you are new to NORA, click on the car an truck file uploader link and get registered.
| | | MANDATORY core file change | | | Click Here for post about updating the CORE File MANDATORY core file change effective Dec 12, 2009 Monday night. The results are in from the pole and the information about updating core ini file is posted in the forums.
Everybody needs to make changes to the core.ini file on their PC which is usually located at C:PapyrusNascar Racing 2003 Seasoncore.ini
I have a supplied ini files in the downloads section of the website or click on link http://www.noraracing.com/downloads/NORACoreFiles.zip there is an original one and an updated one.
I also have some exe programs http://www.noraracing.com/corefileprograms/ if you want to rely on some software programs. Please read below for more information on how to and what and were to alter. Some FAQ's there for you too.
There is only four lines in which to change the number from a 2 (first two lines below)or 3 (last two lines below) to a 1 in the communication block.
net_lan_client_send_every=1
net_lan_server_send_every=1
net_mdm_client_send_every=1
net_mdm_server_send_every=1
Because I run multiple computers with NR2003 through my modem, I also had to switch the line below - but most racers will not have to change this line.
net_use_mdm_bandwidth_for_tcp_ip=0
Manual editing:
- Navigate to your NR2003 directory and open the core.ini file (it should open with Notepad). - Change the values of the highlighted lines so that your file matches those listed above, you'll find them listed under [Communications] near the top of the file:
It is vital that your core.ini file matches the values above, it is essential the lines in red are correct. Save and close the core.ini file then open it again and confirm the values are correct.
That's it, you're done and can enter the server, if you race anywhere else then the values will need changing back before entering other servers, the values to change back is everything you just changed to a 1, change it back to a 2.
-------------------------------------------- More information in the forums. Click HERE FAQ: Why change netcode settings? Remember racing offline, hitting an AI and they're solid as a brick? That's what it will be like racing online with these new settings if you hit another car - it still doesn't stop some things "operator behind the wheel" related but it does improve door to door and bumper to bumper contact - the car position is updated to all players at twice the datarate of normal and so it's easier to go side by side in a corner with someone without warping into them. The new code allows for closer racing, it doesn't give you a license to go banging and beating on the guy or girl in front, the same physics still apply so most contact will still result in at least 1 car crashing.
Is it mandatory? Yes, not making the change places additional strain on the server which can compromise everybody elses connections.
Why fix what isn't broke? To be frank, the netcode is broke, this game was designed to run on 56k modems NOT broadband connections, there a way too many cautions caused by bumps that would with this code result in no accident, there is a known fix, so why shouldn't we at least try it?

Points racing to begin May 20th at Texas. | | | Official Season 25 COT Racing. | | |
Start your engines.
National Online Racing Association (NORA) is starting yet another season, season 25. NORA was developed in the winter of 2002 by four founders whom love Racing, they wanted a place for drivers to have some fun past times. NORA then developed a set of rules to promote fair competitive green flag racing. These rules are very similar to the real racing we see on TV. After reading the manual of rules you will see we have everything covered. Be sure these rules are followed. During post race review, were once reviewed, drivers can be given points penalties.
NORA COT series allows open setup racing. Driving aids off, visual aids allowed with 2x pit stop frequency and 35% races. Most all schedules are derived of 1.5-mile speedways 10 – 12 weeks seasons. We have some tradition going on, were we open with Texas Motor speedway always including a Bullring Bristol, Wild card Daytona, Coca Cola Lowes, and a kiss the bricks Indy race. NORA will always run these tracks in the schedule leaving 5-7 other tracks to be in the mix.
Be sure to join up, as the competion will thrill the most advanced drivers and also the rookies of the sport.
The official schedule for Season 25 is posted in the "Sticky" section of the Chase the Cup section of the forums. Good luck with the upcoming season which by the looks of it will be very competitive.
ALSO - NORA COT Series will use the Superspeedway.net COT mod.
PLEASE make sure you have downloaded/uploaed paints. See the icon on left hand side of homepage named car an truck uploader. If anyone has issues with the race league manager or does not know what or were it is and or does not have a clue what we are talking about, please post us a note in the forums.
NORA is a nonprofit organization; volunteer work is given out of the love of the sport, donations accepted to support the cause. http://www.noraracing.com | | | News on the IP address for NORARACING.COM race server. | | | National Online Racing Association IP address for all racing events is CHANGED EFFECTIVE 5/2/2009

Please be sure to use your racing name in the last name field only.When connecting via ip to race, update your existing player name in the last name field or create a new player in the last name field only.
If creating a new player name be sure to re-tune all your settings, for controls such as anti lock etc., sounds and auto chat.
Our race League Manager system keys off your sierra race name. The exports when ip racing key off the player name not the sierra race name. This is the reason we need a last name field only with your sierra race name or personal name however you prefer.
