MANDATORY core file change
Click Here for post about updating the CORE File
MANDATORY core file change.  The information about updating core ini file is posted in the forums.

Everybody needs to make changes to the core.ini file on their PC which is usually located at C:PapyrusNascar Racing 2003 Seasoncore.ini

Or use the Racelm Arena.

I have a supplied ini files in the downloads section of the website or click on link
http://www.noraracing.com/downloads/NORACoreFiles.zip there is an original one and an updated one.

I also have some exe programs
http://www.noraracing.com/corefileprograms/  if you want to rely on some software programs.

Please read below for more information on how to and what and were to alter. Some FAQ's there for you too.

There is only four lines in which to change the number from a 2 (first two lines below)or 3 (last two lines below) to a 1 in the communication block.

net_lan_client_send_every=1

net_lan_server_send_every=1

net_mdm_client_send_every=1

net_mdm_server_send_every=1

Because I run multiple computers with NR2003 through my modem, I also had to switch the line below - but most racers will not have to change this line.

net_use_mdm_bandwidth_for_tcp_ip=0

Manual editing:

- Navigate to your NR2003 directory and open the core.ini file (it should open with Notepad).
- Change the values of the highlighted lines so that your file matches those listed above, you'll find them listed under [Communications] near the top of the file:

It is vital that your core.ini file matches the values above, it is essential the lines in red are correct.
Save and close the core.ini file then open it again and confirm the values are correct.

That's it, you're done and can enter the server, if you race anywhere else then the values will need changing back before entering other servers, the values to change back is everything you just changed to a 1, change it back to a 2.

FAQ:
Why change netcode settings?
Remember racing offline, hitting an AI and they're solid as a brick? That's what it will be like racing online with these new settings if you hit another car - it still doesn't stop some things "operator behind the wheel" related but it does improve door to door and bumper to bumper contact - the car position is updated to all players at twice the datarate of normal and so it's easier to go side by side in a corner with someone without warping into them. The new code allows for closer racing, it doesn't give you a license to go banging and beating on the guy or girl in front, the same physics still apply so most contact will still result in at least 1 car crashing.

Is it mandatory?
Yes, not making the change places additional strain on the server which can compromise everybody elses connections.

Why fix what isn't broke?
To be frank, the netcode is broke, this game was designed to run on 56k modems NOT broadband connections, there a way too many cautions caused by bumps that would with this code result in no accident, there is a known fix, so why shouldn't we at least try it?

ITS Season will start 02/10/2010

ITS Season 10 Begins 02/10/2010

The NORA Intermediate Track Series (ITS) will be raced on Wednesday nights using the PWF BGN mod.  Qualifying will begin at 10:00pm Eastern. The races will be ran using stock fixed expert setups (if no stock expert, a fixed setup will be provided) at intermediate tracks with a pit frequency of 3X and race length of 25% at the following tracks:

Chicagoland
Kansas
Lowes Night

Vegas 2007
Homestead 2K2

Boston

 Atlanta
Texas

The Points system will be Formula 1 based, with the top 8 drivers each race earning points.

PlacePoints
110
28
36
45
54
63
72
81
The driver who earns the most points over the season wins the drivers' title. If the top two drivers finish tied on points, then the one with more victories in the season wins. Should they each have the same number of victories, then the one with the most second place finishes wins, etc.

There will be a lucky dog rule in this season 10.  Racing back to the yellow will be allowed at all times.  When less than 10 laps to go, all lap cars must drive thru pit road at every legal opportunity to allow lead lap cars to the front of the field.

If current NORA members are interested in racing, please get signed up using the NORA Car File manager and edit your membership to include the ITS series.  If you are new to NORA, click on the car and truck file uploader link and get registered.

Points racing to begin February 3rd at Texas.

News on the IP address for NORARACING.COM race server.
nora_navbar_leagueoffice.jpg
National Online Racing Association IP address for all racing events is

69.162.118.34:33000

Please be sure to use your racing name
in the last name field only.

When connecting via ip to race,
update your existing player name in the last name field or create a new player in the last name field only.

If creating a new player name be sure to re-tune all your settings,
for controls such as anti lock etc., sounds and auto chat.

Our race League Manager system keys off your sierra race name.
The exports when ip racing key off the player name not the sierra race name.
This is the reason we need a last name field only with your sierra race name or personal name however you prefer.

CHANGED
EFFECTIVE 5/2/2009
